When the hay has dried on the ground and most of the stem moisture has evaporated, the hay is then raked with a double wheel rake. This allows us to pull two windrows together, for faster baling, and fluffs the hay to dry the remaining moisture. Raking is done during mid-morning when the dew has hydrated the alfalfa over night. This allows the hay to be moved and fluffed with minimal leaf loss.
