By late morning, the hay is monitored for optimum moisture content on a regular basis. When the moisture in the hay is below 15%, the hay is baled. Most of our hay is baled during the afternoon at low moisture levels to ease the mixing process of Total Mixed Rations, however, we do bale at night when the moisture levels pick back up to retain leaf to stem contact for bunk feeding applications.
